It was August 12, 2010 when the deadline passed for the CRTC intervention process. We have waited for nearly six months for them to finally make a decision. Would Power 93 be sold to Durham Radio and flipped from a Christian format to a Rock format, or would the CRTC deny the application and keep Christian radio in Brantford?

Today was the day we have all been waiting for. Today was the day when the decision was made. The CRTC has denied the purchase request and in turn, the desired format change put forth by Durham Radio. Power 93 will remain a Christian radio station.

Many are wondering what happens next. That is a question that we can’t answer. A couple of possibilities are likely though. Either the owners of Power 93 will pursue a sale once again, this time to a company that will keep the station Christian, or, they’ll simply maintain the station as it is. As this site is not directly affiliated with Power 93, we do not know what they’ll do. At this point we can only speculate.

Should the owners of the station decide to try selling it again, as it did the last time, the process will go before the CRTC. There will be another intervention process and letters will be required once more. This time around though, assuming the sale is to a Christian broadcaster, we would need to collectively submit letters of support. This would encourage the CRTC to grant the sale, making way for new owners to make a new Christian radio station that would continue to serve Brantford and the surrounding area.

Over the coming days and weeks we will try and speak to the owners of Power 93 to find out their intentions. In the event that they do decide to sell, we will use this site once again to provide the information necessary to support the process. Should they decide to keep it running themselves, we’ll continue to support them and their efforts of making Christian radio in our area.

Thank you again for all of your support. Together we have saved our Christian radio station!

Blessings,
The KeepItChristian Team

The Power Of Christian Radio – By Marc Scott

Some have asked me whether or not what I’ve done to lend my support to the cause of keeping Power 93.9FM in Brantford broadcasting as a Christian radio station is a conflict of interest, on account of me working for the competition in town.  I admit, I asked myself the same question before I started.  [...]

Yes You Can Sign A Petition

Dear Friend, Many of you have asked us why we don’t simply create a petition for people to sign, as it would be much easier than going through the CRTC intervention process.  The reason we didn’t do this, is that it was our understanding that petitions were not accepted by the CRTC.  Today we have [...]

FAQ – Why Stop The Sale?

One of the most common questions we’re being asked is “Why are you trying to stop a sale from taking place?  If the owners want to sell you should let them sell.” The answer to this has a couple elements.  First and foremost, we are not trying to stop a sale as much as we [...]

Praising The Virtues Of Christian Radio – Expositor

The following article was printed in the Brantford Expositor on Wednesday July 28, 2010. Letter To The Editor – Brad Loveday

The following Letter To The Editor was published in the Brantford Expositor.  It was submitted by Brad Loveday of Faith FM and published here with his consent.
